Renée N. Sewchand (“Renée”) has been litigating and trying complex civil matters for over fifteen (15) years across a broad range of practice areas throughout Maryland and around the country. She routinely has appeared before state and federal courts, as she has served as national trial counsel for pharmaceutical companies and a construction products manufacturer.

Over her career, Renée has developed a diverse litigation and trial practice defending pharmaceutical companies and other products manufacturers in personal injury cases, defending companies in commercial and other markets-based litigation, and defending household consumer products companies, chemical companies, restaurants, building owners, and property managers in cases of alleged exposure to lead paint, carbon monoxide, benzene, insecticides, and other toxins. Renée also has drafted multiple appellate briefs in federal and state courts and has developed an expertise in handling Daubert/Frye matters, having won motions that have prevented mass litigation, and having successfully prevented unqualified proffered experts from being able to testify at trial. Clients have included Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., BP, Crown Equipment Corp., Eisai Inc., Pfizer Inc., Wyeth, 3M, and SC Johnson.

Renée holds a law degree and a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University. Before starting private practice, she clerked for the Honorable Franklin S. Van Antwerpen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Prior to joining Saboura, Goldman & Colombo, P.C. Renée was a partner at Goodell, DeVries, Leech and Dann, LLP, a nationally recognized civil defense trial firm where Renée specialized in pharmaceutical and other products liability litigation, as well as commercial litigation. She also left private practice for a few years to do civil rights work for such non-profits as the ACLU and the Transformative Justice Coalition. Renée is from Baltimore.

Renée is admitted to practice before the following Courts:

Court of Appeals of Maryland, 2003

United States District Court for Maryland
